How to Overcome Fear?

Success does not come to those who are ruled by fear. Anais Nin has rightly written that “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” There is no doubt that every one of us has dreams that he/she wants to follow and all it takes is moving one step forward and controlling your fear. If you are planning on expanding your life by perusing your dreams, here are some of ways through which you can overcome your fear and save yourself from being stuck.

Face your fear

Point out the fear that is plaguing your vision; it can be about anything like about your body, career, finances, dreams, hence anything that holds a major role for achieving your goal. While pointing out your fear know that there is a huge difference between what is real and what lies only in your mind. Fear mostly lies only in our minds. It is not necessarily true or important to waste time on. You have to think of your fear like the passing clouds in the sky; coming and going. The only thing that is ever present and has the power to be afraid or be courageous and bold is your truest self.

Leave your comfort zone

Living in your comfort zone is not the best way to live. Although doing things may seem scary but what is scarier is doing nothing at all. Staying in your comfort zone will only make your fear grow bigger and ultimately take a hold over your life. So in order to leave your comfort zone you should daily try and do something that scares you. All you have to do is step out of your comfort zone and work on being comfortable in something that normally makes you uncomfortable. This may seem insignificant but it will help you grow your courage little by little when you face your fears on daily basis. Soon enough, the hurdles (in form of fear) that were holding you back will vanish, ultimately maximizing your true potential.

Take one step at a time

It is always better to take one step at a time. Break down your plan into manageable chunks, in this way you will be more concentrated on the step that is in front of you rather than the long term steps. Managing your plans step wise also helps you better understand your grounds and gives you more chances of completing each and every step with perfection.

Keep your goals in mind and eyes on the path

A clear vision of your aims and goals is a crucial part of any good planning. When you set your eyes on the path rather than the obstacles, you are likely to succeed in achieving whatever your goals are. For instance, when you are riding a boat you keep your eyes on the water rather than the rocks. Your life will go where your attention goes. Saying this does not mean that you should completely ignore the dangers and the obstacles but your attention should be glued on the path that lies between them.

I will sum up this article by saying that having a fear is not bad; it is a natural instinct, but not trying to overcome that fear is really bad and will not let you move forward in your life.
